GrapheneOS
GrapheneOS (GOS) is an privacy&security-friendly OS based on Android AOSP. Currently it only supports Google Pixel series hardware. GOS reaches a better balance between privacy and usability than any other third party Android ROMs. The key point is the sand-boxed google play service. In any other Android ROMs, if you don't want to let google play service collect your privacy data, you only have two choices:
- Don't use google play service: Many applications cannot work properly without Google Play service and downloading from Google Play store is not possible.
- MicroG: MicroG is an open-source third party Google Play service alternative. It works but cannot replaces Google Play service. And it also requires a lot of permissions that might leak privacy info.
But on GOS, using sand-boxed Google Play service is the best option: It provides all functionality of Google Play service with wrapping it into a sandbox like any other normal applications.
Though GOS is pretty strict on hardware choice and its support on banking apps is not stable, it has no alternative on the Internet. So it is the only and best option on Android Phones.
